Lewes is a lovely market town set in the South Downs National Park.
It is steeped in history and varied architecture to include Lewes Castle and Anne of Cleves house.
It boasts a wealth of independent and unusual shops – Lewes is especially known for it’s numerous antique and antiquarian Book shops. It has an excellent flea market together with gift, Clothing, jewellery and specialist food shops. It also has the well known Harvey’s brewery which has it’s own specialist shop.
There is a farmers market on the first Saturday of each month.
There are a variety of good pubs and restaurants and the well known “Bills” café which also sells it’s own label specialities. If you would like a picnic for Glyndebourne or other occasions we would suggest Bill’s and of course our local Waitrose.
